Articulate

I worked with Articulate’s design team as an individual contributor, expanding the illustration and systems library for the Resource Center and collaborating with two other design teams on projects across digital, print, and experiential campaigns.

Role: Sr. Brand Designer/Illustrator (Contract)

Clarity and speed for a growing Resource Center with a new image system

Challenge

Articulate’s Resource Center had an illustration style that wasn’t fully defined, which
made it difficult for the Marketing team to create consistent, on-brand visuals quickly.

Solution

I built a ready-to-use, structured illustration and image library, giving Marketing a
clear and adaptable framework.

Result

The design team saved countless hours and maintained brand consistency,
enabling Marketing to post 150+ blog images per year without design support.

These are design elements originally established by Articulate’s brand team. I referenced them
as inspiration to guide the development of future illustrations and when selecting photography.

Extending the system

Building on the foundation established for the Resource Center, I extended the visual system into a new content category (Course Templates) that required custom iconography, tailored thumbnails, and fresh illustrations to support its unique identity.

Challenge

The new category needed to stand out while staying cohesive with the Resource Center system. It lacked distinct visual assets such as icons, thumbnails, and illustrations tailored to its content.

Solution

I developed a complementary visual language, designing a full suite of icons, thumbnails, and illustrations that aligned with the established system while introducing subtle variations to differentiate the category.

Result

The new visuals seamlessly integrated into the broader design system, giving the category a clear identity while maintaining brand consistency and reducing design turnaround time for future updates.

Established assets

Originally developed by Articulate’s brand team, these elements guided the direction for the new Course Templates category, which required three new components: an icon, a hero illustration, and a thumbnail template.

Designing new category assets

I designed a new icon, hero illustration, and thumbnail template for recurring Course Templates posts, ensuring they fit seamlessly within the existing visual system.
